POSOLOGÍA= Posology:
La forma más frecuente de uso es como té, preparado con un manojo de flores en una taza de agua caliente.

COMPOSICIÓN QUÍMICA= Chemical composition: Jasminum sambac Linn (family: Oleaceae) is commonly known as "mogra".  The Plant is considered as cool and sweet; it is used as remedy in case of insanity, weakness of sight and affections of mouth.  J.sambac flowers contain major phytoconstituents as glycosides, saponins, flavonoids and terpenoids.  In this study, the phytochem. screening and anti-lipid peroxidn. effect of J.sambac was evaluated using the std. antioxidants BHT, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Rutin.  The preliminary study shows the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, carbohydrates, proteins, phenols, tannins, saponins and phytosterols.  The methanolic ext. of the J.sambac flowers shows anti-lipid peroxidative effect which is similar to that of all stds.  Results of this study suggests that the methanolic ext. of J.sambac can be used as therapeutic agents to treat against various diseases caused by free radicals and other chem. agents.

Anal. of the essential oil of the flowers of Jasminum sambac L. distd. in three locations in India showed that considerable variation in the compn. occurred.  Variation in the compn. of the oil recovered from buds collected in the morning and late in the day has also been obsd.

Origin:
Cultivated throughout India, especially in Uttar Pradesh, on a large scale in Jaunpur, Kannauj, Ghazipur and Farrukhabad for its fragrant flowers.

Action:
Root—emmenagogue, blood purifier.
Flowers—lactifuge.
Alcoholic extract—hypotensive.
Leaves—antibacterial; used against indolent and breast tumours.
